AFRICA FASHION UP 2024

[Paris, July 3, 2024] The 4th edition of Africa Fashion Up brilliantly lit up Paris Fashion Week, attracting more than 700 guests to the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac on June 26. The event celebrated four young African designers selected from 200 applications, under the watchful eye of influential figures from the world of politics, fashion and culture. Supported by prestigious partners such as BALENCIAGA, Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, Guerlain, HEC Paris and the Musée du Quai Branly, as well as media such as France Médias Monde and Trace TV, the 2024 edition confirmed Africa Fashion Up as a key platform for the promotion of African fashion on the international scene. Valérie Ka, founder of the event, celebrates the creativity and innovation of the African continent.

The parade, designed by artist Junior Fritz Jacquet, brought together many celebrities, including Samuel Le Bihan, Aïssa Maïga, Joey Starr, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and political figures such as Elisabeth Moreno and Chrysoula Zacharopoulou. Representatives from major brands were also present, including Ludivine Pont (Balenciaga) and Gabrielle Saint-Denis (Guerlain). The awards honored Rich Mnisi (Best Designer), Mohamed Youss (Eco-Responsible Designer) and Gugu Peteni (Young Designer), highlighting their talent and commitment. The winners will benefit from international development support from HEC Paris and Balenciaga.

After the fashion show, a pop-up store was inaugurated at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, from June 27 to July 1, allowing seven designers to sell their creations to an international clientele. Discover the richness and diversity of African fashion through Africa Fashion Up, an event that continues to propel African talent onto the global stage.
