Biography

Marie-Jeanne Serbin-Thomas is a leading figure in French women's and cultural media, known for her commitment to diversity and the representation of Black women. Born in Senegal to parents from Martinique, she holds a Master's degree in Aesthetics.

She is the founder and editor-in-chief of Brune magazine, created in 1991 and relaunched in 2007, a bimonthly publication dedicated to promoting the careers, successes, and voices of urban, active Black women. Through this medium, she campaigns for fairer and more inclusive representation in the French press.

Committed and influential, Marie-Jeanne Serbin-Thomas regularly speaks at conferences and appears on television and radio programs, notably on RFI, as an expert on issues related to fashion, diversity, and Afro-descendant cultures. She has also been a member of juries for fashion events such as Africa Fashion Up.

His work and commitment have been recognized by the French authorities, who awarded him the Legion of Honor, acknowledging his essential role in promoting diversity and inclusion in the media.
