Mpumelelo Dhlamini

2026 Winner
From Nigeria - Ezokhetho Brand

The term “Ezokhetho” was coined in isiZulu by founder Mpumelelo Dhlamini and his mother. After earning a bachelor’s degree in fashion from the Villioti Fashion Institute, Mpumelelo decided to create a clothing brand that would serve as a form of storytelling. Graduating with the Dean’s Award of Excellence, he then participated in the EDCON Design Innovation Challenge, a development initiative that included SA Fashion Week’s “21 Steps Retail” program and an internship at EDCON. In 2019, he was selected to sell his first capsule collection in Milan during Milan Fashion Week. The Ezokhetho brand was born. A clothing brand created to reflect African identity and celebrate the heritage that lies behind the present. The brand continues to forge its own DNA with each season, as it evolves. Ezokhetho—carefully chosen as the best or most appropriate by those who came before us.
