
Thula Sindi is a South African fashion designer known for his sophisticated, modern, and accessible ready-to-wear clothing designed for the urban, assertive, and influential woman. Born in Klerksdorp, he first studied fine arts at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg, then trained in fashion at the London International School of Fashion (LISOF).
He began his career as a senior designer at Vlisco before launching his eponymous brand, Thula Sindi, in 2005. His first collection, presented at South African Fashion Week in 2006, marked the beginning of his international success: his designs have been shown in Paris, New York, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Lagos, and in 2012 he was invited to Valentino's private studio in Rome.
A committed entrepreneur, he founded AfricaRise, a concept store and incubator designed to support and promote young African designers, while promoting local craftsmanship.
