TRAINING AND SUPPORT 2022
The five winning young African designers were invited to participate in masterclasses and training programs with the aim of equipping them with the tools and knowledge necessary to develop and sustain their brands.
During their stay in Paris, they enjoyed a day of masterclasses led by Balenciaga, designed to immerse them in the world of fashion and equip them with the essential skills to grow their brands. In addition, the winners had the opportunity to discover the Parisian and international fashion scene through a program of visits.
In addition, Balenciaga has committed to supporting each winner for four months as part of a mentoring program organized with AFUP. For its part, the prestigious HEC business school will provide training to each of the winners.
In addition to these masterclasses, the winners enjoyed a series of visits that immersed them in the world of Parisian and international fashion.
THE PARISIAN JOURNEY
From September 12 to 15, the five winners had the opportunity to participate in the following events:
Meeting with the Senior Runway and Pre-Collection Designer at Balenciaga
Meetings with Binance Charity hosted live by Taylor Benyahi and some of the creators on the theme of "African Creativity and Technology"
Masterclasses with Balenciaga's management team. Tour of Kering's headquarters.
Visit to Sisley and meeting with the Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Private tour of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann and meeting with the sales team: Director of Customer Development and Operational Marketing and Director of International Business Development
Round table and debate at Sciences Po organized by the director of the Master's program in New Luxury Marketing and Lifestyle, on the theme "Luxury in Africa: how do young fashion creators shape the future of the sector," with the participation of executive director Dr. Niagalé Bagayoko, political science researcher, and Valérie Anne Paglia, Senior Luxury Officer.
